We are so conditioned in our daily lives to always look or notice the most obvious but we hardly try to catch the essence of our surroundings. Once you go beyond the obvious you never know what you can encounter. I am always searching for the essence in my portraits, landscapes or objects. Essence is not something that is really obvious and this can be, from time to time, a challenging journey. Sometimes I cannot rush things and then art needs to have the patience to mature. I wonder if catching the “essence” is in fact adding my own “essence” into what I am creating at that moment.
